The ASLT relocation kit moves your BMW’s intake air temperature sensor from the heat-affected area inside the air filter box further forward into the intake air stream. This provides the engine control unit with more accurate temperature readings and allows it to operate based on more reliable sensor data—resulting in more direct, stable, and performance-oriented engine control.

The ASLT routing kit was developed for BMW KA models and is compatible with the BMW R1300GS, BMW R1300GS Adventure, BMW R1300RT, BMW R1300R, and BMW R1300RS. The kit relocates the original intake air temperature sensor from its stock position in the middle of the air filter box further forward into the intake air area.

The reason is simple: The original sensor position can be affected by rising engine heat. This can result in temperature readings that do not accurately reflect the actual intake air in the intake area. With the ASLT relocation, the sensor is positioned more precisely where the intake air can be measured more accurately.

The engine control unit operates based on various sensor data. The intake air temperature plays an important role in calculating engine control parameters. If the values are less distorted by stagnant heat or engine heat, this provides a more accurate basis for fuel mixture preparation, power delivery, and engine operation.

Especially when the engine is warm, after short periods of idling, or during slow driving, the ASLT layout can help ensure that the sensor provides more stable and realistic readings. This supports more direct and performance-oriented engine control and can noticeably improve the vehicle’s performance.

The original intake air temperature sensor remains in place and is simply repositioned. The kit includes the appropriate bracket, a sealing plug, and the necessary wiring and small parts. Once installed, the modification is not visible from the outside.

The ASLT installation can be performed on its own, but is particularly beneficial for vehicles with optimized engine software, for example, in combination with a Engine Optimization, Performance Increase Stage 1 or Stage 2 Performance Upgrade.
